First time post here:
I am trying to get confirmation of how many virtual servers I can host using a standard edition server 2016 license. On first glance it seems as though the simple answer is 1 host and 2 VMs. However having investigated further, I now have the impression that in my scenario using the server I have in mind, the answer is actually one host and 8 VMs.

The video illustrates the use of the following equation:
(Number of physical cores / 2 (rounded up)) X (number of hyper-v servers / 2 (rounded up)) = amount of 2 core packs:
One of the examples included in the video does actually demonstrate the ability to utilize 'unused' core packs from the minimum 16 cores covered if your hardware does not have 16 cores.
The hardware I have has 1 CPU and 4 Cores, as the minimum Standard license covers you for 16 cores (8 x 2 core packs) using the formula above, I calculated the following:
(4 / 2 = 2 X (8 / 2 = 4 = 2 x 4 = 8 ( that's 8 2 core packs included in the standard license)
So am I correct in my assumption or am I being overoptimistic and I'm only going to be able to host 2 VMs?
