Hello, LastXdeth

The High Performance power plan should, by default, disable sleep/hibernation. When you had set it to that power plan, did the computer sleep or did the monitor just turn off?

Check your power plan settings. On the one that is selected, click Change plan settings, Change advanced power settings, under the Sleep section check the Sleep after and Hibernate after settings.

Who is the manufacturer of your computer? Some computer manufacturers include their own program to control the power settings.

I am pretty sure the computer didn't go to sleep on the High Performance plan because the power light on my computer was blue, and not orange which would indicate a sleep. However, it was acting like it was sleeping because it wasn't connected to my modem as indicated by my modem's wireless LED light. Do you think the computer turns off my network card after a while, even though it never sleeps?

I haven't tested a download on my computer for sometime now. Sometime later, I will ask my father to download a large file again to see if it still disrupts the download.

Never mind...my High Performance plan works now. My dad is able to download files without being interrupted by 'sleeping' or a behavior that behaves like sleeping. I don't know why it stopped working last time; we never change the power plans.

I still have this question unanswered though. Before, why was my computer able to stay awake while a download was in progress and sleep automatically after all downloads are complete?

Now, using the same exact power plan as before, my computer sleeps even though my downloads are still in progress.

Exactly my problem. Windows 10 and downloads are interrupted by hibernation.

And no, I cannot accept the answer, that I should change the power plan. Example: Large game downloading on Steam, takes half the night. Do I want the computer to run through the night? No! I want it to go to sleep after it has done its work and is inactive.

Why, I ask you, why does Windows not consider downloads 'activity'? That is a design flaw. And changing the settings to higher energy demand has the drawback, that it leads to a higher energy demand (!) I do not accept that as a solution and expect a sensible one.

I am not afraid of configuration, no option for configuration is the disease here.

I really do not understand how that is so hard to understand.
